Many of you might be knowing this already, but some don’t. So here I’ll be sharing the new version of wordpress.com stats launched by wordpress team in the form of jetPack (along with some other cool plugins by Automattic).
How to get new wordpress.com stats on self hosted wp (jetpack by automattic)
To get the wordpress stats plugin by wp itself, goto plugins > add new and install “JetPack”, activate it. You will get a link to JetPack in sidebar (near top left). It has many cool plugins, but you should deactivate the ones which you don’t intend to use.
Click on learn more / settings for wordpress Stats plugin in jetpack and it will ask you for your API.
You can get the api by clicking the link provided next to enter wordpress api key input box and logging in (you can register new account at wordpress.com if you don’t have one already)
Enter the api key and save. It’s all done. It don’t show the stats right away, takes almost 20 minutes to show you the stats.
Note: another obvious answer, yes, it shows stats from the time you install it, not since you started using blog. Also, it shows total pageviews of your blog, not unique visitors (excluding your own views – as logged in)
I am using it.. Its real nice.. Saves you from adding third party codes for tracking and traffic analytics….
yeah it really does, but google analytics is still a must have!
