How to use evo ptcl (Pakistan) on Mac OS and Linux

Ptcl EVO (evdo ptcl device) comes with installation files with auto run feature – but for windows only.

However, ptcl has included drivers for their evdo device for mac osx and linux os (e.g ubuntu) on their website for download.

To download the ptcl evo / ptcl evdo device drivers goto: http://www.ptcl.com.pk/downloads.php?pd_id=181

On that page, select the appropriate download for your device and the operating system you’re on

Update: (tip for linux – ubuntu users – thanks to Ahmed Bilal)

Ubuntu users – Please review the comment from Ahmed Bilal to get ptcl evo working for you:

“I have used those drivers in ubuntu and they are of no use! u need to plug the usb and if it doesn’t get detected install the package usb-modeswitch and restart the pc, it will get detected. then u need to configure a connection through the network-manager and it works like a charm!”

  2. I have a PTCL EVO 3G USB device. It worked fine with my macbook air. Now when I am trying to access the internet through it on my MacBook Pro it would not work. I have downloaded Java 8 from Oracle site but the EVO software continues to ask for version 1.5 or later. Please guide for a solution.
