How to fix Facebook Access Restricted (bad ip) error

1. Reset your connection

If you are on a connection that you can reset, try disconnecting and reconnecting and resetting the connection (dsl modem etc). This usually solves the issue regarding restricted access to facebook or any other website, as it might change your ip too.

2. Use alternate browser

If you are getting this error on your browser, try changing it, e.g opera, firefox, etc or use facebook application on iPhone. There might be some issue with your browser support or maybe it’s caching some stuff.

Another option could be clearing your browser history and cache too.

3. Use Facebook alternates

There are multiple ways that you can use to access facebook.

Use facebook applications for your mobile device, or connect through m.facebook.com. Options include:

  • Facebook for mobile application (iPhone, android, windows phone, etc.).
  • Open this on your desktop (or cell phone browser too): http://m.facebook.com/
  • Try opening messenger only: http://messenger.com

4. Turn off proxy settings

Turn off your proxy settings. Maybe your proxy settings or the ip it’s assigning you might be causing this issue. If you want to turn off proxy on iPhone, see this tutorial to turn off proxy settings on iPhone.

5. Use proxy (site)

Yes! accessing facebook through proxy site lets you connect most of the time. However be careful that not all proxies are safe and can log your data, including your username and password, resulting in misuse or even hacking your facebook account.

Facebook might also restrict your account, considering it suspicious activity as each proxy ip has it’s own location, which might be away and different from yours current one.

So this step isn’t recommended at all,  use at your own risk if you have to!

6. Try doing something productive

Use this time to get your face off facebook! and do something else. This one is my favorite too! Study something, be more productive, finish an unfinished task, etc.

I hope these tips would have helped you fix the issue while accessing facebook saying “access restricted” (bad ip).

No, this error means that there is an issue with your network or connection settings. This can be at various levels, including the settings in your device, browser issues, network service provider issues or even at facebook level.
