IE Users Have Lower IQ Than of Other Web Browsers – STUDY

A recent study about IQ of users using various web browsers has linked intelligence test results with those browser usage. According to the study Microsoft Internet Explorer (specially older versions) are associated with lower IQ.

The study titled “Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Browser Usage” was conducted by Canadian company AptiQuant. They compiled IQ test scores of 101,326 individuals. All the participants were older than 16 years of age and were divided into the groups according to the web browsers they use.

The results for the tests showed that the users of Internet Explorer 6 have an average IQ score of around 80. The IQ of users using Firefox and Chrome were better and had average IQ score of 110 or so. The highest score of the people using Opera and Camino with scores more than 120.

The users of IE6 had better IQ scored back in 2006 probably because there were not other choices available. Also, the scores got better with newer versions of IE.

The study also concluded that the people on the lower side of the IQ scale also tent to resist change or upgrade to their web browser.
