Bleh. 4.0.1 redsn0w is giving me an unspecified err.
are you trying to load iOS 4.0.1 on redsn0w ? you need to use 4.0 version with redsn0w (it will jailbreak 4.0.1 too)
Hey! I have been looking all night at these amatuer websites about how they can do this and that to my phone lol. Then I came across this website and didn’t think twice.. you can try the redsn0w jailbreak, if it won’t work, then in worst case, you would have to re update your iPhone only hopefully
when i try to use red snow and i use my downloaded ispw file it says it could not connect it.
did you try restarting your computer + iPhone?

iPhone2,1_4.0_8A293_Restore i tried with this my frnd.. but same error and tried with sn0wbreeze-V17 it giving me a warning that if that device is not jailbroken already it wont work..

I just got my iPhone 3GS 8G last week and am looking for a way to jailbreak it, I keep seeing on sites that there is no way to jailbreak from version 4.0.1 if you didn’t have a jailbreak via redsn0w on 3.1.3 due to that update being the only temp fix for now.
I would like to know if there is any info you could give me, such as if there is a way to do it, and if so, pls let me know how so i can get this started, I would greatly appreciate it

Hi My girlfriends iphone 3g 8gb was jailbroken, I can’t remember by who however I stupidly updated it by itunes and locked it again. She had it opened to any network, I’m trying to get it back to that and install the 4.1 firmware. I’ve downloaded Redsn0w and tried to install the downloaded software however it keeps saying ‘unable to recognise specified ispw’. Any help would be much appreciated!!
