Can’t view hidden files and folders? Problem solved.

If you can’t see your hidden files and folders, it’s because of a virus that changed a registry value. Your antivirus software can’t detect or remove this virus; neither can it repair the registry. So here is a free solution to this problem.

What happens is, you go to Tools > Folder options and in folder options window, select view tab and check “ show hidden files and folders ” click apply and ok. But still you can’t see any hidden or system files and folders.

When you will go to folder options again you will see that option of show hidden files and folders has been unchecked again, reversing the change that you had made previously.

In such a case, what you have to do is,

  • Click start > run, type regedit and hit enter.
  • Navigate to the registry folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Expl orer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
  • In the right panel, double click “ checked value ”.
  • An “Edit DWORD Value” box will appear. Type “1” in value data field and click OK.

Close registry editor and try again to view hidden files and folder.

This time I hope it will be a success.
