Sony replacing handset wiring with a single copper cable

Sony recently announced the development of its new single wire interface technology which is going to replace typical 22+ cables which were used for power, control signals, video, audio, etc transmission inside the mobile devices found in hinge or rotating parts of the cell phones.

This single wire interface, made of copper wire, is capable of transmitting data at 940Mbps which will not only give much more reliability but also design team will have more flexibility for the upcoming Sony handsets models.

Sony is planning to implement the new technology swiftly by licensing the IP to ROHM which will help them jointly to develop the silicon required in this new model of transmission.
