Activate iPhone 3G, 3GS With Subscriber Artificial Module (SAM)

Subscriber Artificial Module (SAM) allows your iPhone to be activated through iTunes even if you’re unlocked with ultrasn0w to use unofficial carrier.

SAM has been released by @sbingner, the author of TetherMe, which lets the iPhone users to tweak their iPhone 3G and 3Gs to bypass iPhone activation system by Apple.

With subscriber artificial module your iphone gets legitimate activation tickets from itunes even if it’s unlocked with ultrasn0w.

This also lets user to use push applications. SAM also improves performance, stability and battery life of the iPhone by removing the requirement of Ultrasn0w demon to be running the background all the time.

Redsn0w version 0.9.6 beta 6 has been released as an update by iPhone Dev Team, making it easier to switch to the SAM method to unlock your iPhone after jailbreaking it. The new updated release of Redsn0w also have the option to De-Activate the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS incase someone wants to deactivate the device for some reason.

Steps to Activate iPhone 3G, 3GS With Subscriber Artificial Module (SAM)

1. Add repository to Cydia

After jailbreaking your iPhone, add this repo to Cydia:

http://repo.bingner.com

2. Install SAM and SAMPrefs

Search for and install SAM and SAMPrefs from the bingner repo in cydia

3. Deactivate your iPhone

Next step is to deactivate the iPhone using redsn0w 0.9.6b6 that we downloaded in previous step. Once deactivated, we will reactivate it via SAM.

To deactivate, run redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 6 and browse the original firmware. While selecting options for the jailbreak, select only Deactivate and continue, without selecting any other option.

4. De-Activate using SAM

Next step is to enter iPhone settings and select SAM option, click on De-Activate iPhone in SAM options.

5. Connect iPhone to iTunes

Connect iPhone to iTunes and let it complete the normal process (of activating the iPhone) and you’re done!
